2019 SaskTel Tankard Day 3
‘A’ event qualifier/ youth enjoy Tankard experience
Today’s frigid temperatures made it the perfect day to spend indoors watching some great games at the Men’s Provincial Championships. The ‘A’ event qualifier game was played at 12:00pm and featured the Kirk Muyres team battling against Team Josh Heidt! This match-up lived up to the hype as the former Junior teammates (Josh and Kirk) went toe-to-toe all the way to the final end. Tied up at 6 with Team Heidt throwing the last stone, it was Kirk’s squad that managed to steal the victory. Team Muyres now secure themselves a spot in the ‘A’ vs. ‘B’ page playoff game Saturday at 7pm.Team Heidt drops into the B event to continue seeking their spot into the playoffs.
It was a packed house as many fans journeyed through the cold to the rink. Joining them were some junior fans from the local Whitewood School, making the atmosphere extremely lively. These kids had a blast cheering on their local hero Jason Krupski (third on team J. Hartung), and slurping many a grape slushy! It is always great to see the youth filling the stands and adding to the buzz in the crowd!

Team Fell/ Team Kleiter are teams to watch
A team that has been making a major splash this weekend has been the Lloyd Fell rink from North Battleford. Ranked 16th coming into this event and qualifying through the Northern Playdowns, they have turned many heads and made a few new fans with the run they have been on. Since losing their first game on Wednesday they have now won 3 of their last 4. One of these victories was while paying shorthanded as one of their front end players was nursing a lower body injury and had to remove himself from that game. Fell and Teammates now find themselves two wins from qualifying in the ‘C’ event. They matchup up against Team Kleiter in a ‘C’ event semi-final. The young Kleiter rink have been turning heads in their own right with outstanding shot-making, winning two games themselves. They are making a statement in this event and proving that this Junior team belongs in the Men’s ranks already!
This matchup between Team Fell and Team Kleiter will be played at 9am Saturday morning and will have the attention of many!
