CURLSASK is pleased to welcome Lydia to the team as our new Event Coordinator!
In her new role, Lydia will be responsible for helping plan and execute CURLSASK championship events across the province while working closely with and providing support to host committees.
“We’re very excited to welcome Lydia to the CURLSASK team,” said CURLSASK Executive Director Steve Turner. “Her background in event planning, combined with her experience and passion for curling, will be a great addition to our organization. We look forward to having her work alongside our host committees to help deliver great championship experiences for curlers across Saskatchewan.”
Lydia recently received her diploma in Recreation and Tourism Management from Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Through her education and previous work experiences, she developed a strong interest in event planning and community engagement. Combining that experience with a lifelong love of curling made joining CURLSASK a natural fit.
“I am excited to combine my event planning knowledge with my passion for curling,” said Lydia. “Championship events are often the highlight of a curler’s season, and I look forward to helping create positive and memorable experiences. I am also excited to connect with clubs, volunteers and host committees and contribute to the growth of curling.”
Curling has been part of Lydia’s life from a young age. She grew up at the Martensville Curling Club watching both of her parents compete in leagues and bonspiels. Their involvement sparked her love for the sport, and she joined the Martensville junior program as soon as she was old enough.
Over the years, Lydia competed in junior curling and mixed doubles, creating many memorable experiences and friendships along the way. After aging out of juniors, she shifted her focus toward helping develop the next generation of curlers by coaching junior programs and school curling in her community.
Some of Lydia’s favourite curling memories come from attending summer curling camps and competing in junior events across Saskatchewan.
Now, she is looking forward to experiencing the sport from a new perspective and becoming part of the CURLSASK team.
Outside of work and curling, Lydia enjoys spending time outdoors and travelling with family and friends. During the summer, you can usually find her at the lake, on the golf course or playing softball.
Please join us in welcoming Lydia to the CURLSASK team!
