Anderson & Korte Claim Senior Provincial Championships
Anderson “Four-Peat” in Rosetown!
What an unbelievable run these four ladies have had over the past four curling seasons!
The championship final Sunday afternoon kept the streak alive for Sherry Anderson, Patty Hersikorn, Brenda Goertzen & Anita Silvernagle. As they needed a score of three in the final end over 2017 Canadian Masters Champion Team Delores Syrota from Wadena, taking the final by a score of 7-6!
With that, Team Anderson has made the following accomplishments the past four years:
4x Provincial Senior Champion (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019)
2x Canadian Senior Champion (2017, 2018)
World Senior Champion (2018)
Anderson & team will now head to Chilliwack, British Columbia to defend their Canadian Crown, and will look to represent Canada once again at the World Championships!! Congratulations & Good Luck Team Saskatchewan!
Korte Wins First Senior Title
Another nail biting finish in Melville, as it was an all Saskatoon battle in the 2019 provincial final!
Team Bruce Korte (6-1) of the Nutana took on Team Brian Humble (5-2) of the Sutherland as both teams finished atop of the standings once round robin play concluded!
This one was all tied up coming home, where Humble managed to sit shot rock biting the button, fully burried waiting for Korte to deliver the final stone of the game. Korte needed a larger portion of the button, does just that winning it in dramatic fashion and earning those green jackets!! This is not the first time these members have represented our province at the national level, a lot of experience will be heading to Chilliwack in a few weeks:
Korte – Brier Competitor (2000, 2004 & 2010) & Canadian Mixed Silver Medalist (2016).
McKee – Brier Competitor (2000 & 2010) & 3-time Provincial Senior Champion (2014, 2017 &2018).
Kohuch – 3 time provincial Curling Club Champion, winning the Canadian title in 2016.
Galanowski – Brier Competitor (2000 & 2004).
Congratulations gentlemen & Good Luck at the 2019 Everest Canadian Senior Championships!
