Common Weal Community Arts and CJTR Regina Community Radio present the “Sweepers Cup” Curling Funspiel
When? Saturday, February 25, 2023
Curling 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Errol Kinistino and the Dog River Band Party 10:00 pm – Midnight
Common Weal Community Arts and CJTR Regina Community Radio are partnering to present the Sweepers Cup Curling Funspiel, a fundraising event in support of Common Weal Community Arts.
“With your help, there’s a 0% chance that we hog this one!”
If you enjoy pebbled ice, yelling/hollering, low-scoring games, then please join us as we work to support artists and communities in Saskatchewan!
You can register as a team of four for a suggested amount of $200, or as an individual for $50 (prices are also on a sliding scale, or PAY WHAT YOU CAN).
Just want to watch? Spectator tickets are $20 and include entrance to watch the curling and attendance at the afterparty, including the performance of The Dog River Band in the Caledonian Curling Club Lounge!
As always, there is also a pay-what-you-can option so everyone can take part.
You don’t need any special skills or equipment to attend this event, just a love for community arts and a clean pair of running shoes will do! (All brooms and sliders are provided by the Callie)
Join us on the ice with your best (or worst) curling attire, borrow your grandpa’s old broom (to use as a prop—rinks don’t typically allow straw brooms anymore as they mess up the ice!), and get ready for an evening of pure fun in support of socially engaged arts! “On-ice” entertainment courtesy of DJ Hayley Leier, host of the hit radio program Dodecahedron on 91.3FM CJTR Regina’s home of Community Radio, (Dodecahedron airs at 9:00pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays).
The event will conclude with a wind-up party in the lounge, featuring music from the one & only Erroll Kinistino & the Dog River Band. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase!
There will also be a very official awards ceremony. Awards and prizes will be presented for winners in the following categories:
First Place Team
Best Dressed Team
Best Team Name
Acceptance speeches are entirely optional, but highly encouraged.
Proceeds from this event will directly support Common Weal Community Arts in providing discretionary arts programs that respond to community need in Saskatchewan.
We can’t wait to see you on the ice!
