Mixed Provincials Recap

The 2024 Mixed Provincials took place in Kindersley, SK on March 21-24th. Ten mixed teams from across Saskatchewan competed for the chance to represent Saskatchewan at the 2024 Canadian Mixed Curling Championships at the St. Catherine’s Golf & Country Club in St. Catherine’s in November!



Team Ackerman: skip Jason Ackerman, third Robyn Silvernagle, second Sam Wills, lead Colleen Ackerman – Highland Curling Club

Team Criton: skip Mitch Criton, third Sherry Just, second Kyle Cherpin, lead Jasmine Kerr – Highland Curling Club

Team DeConick Smith: skip Carl deConinck Smith, third Grace Wickenheiser, second Kalin Deis, lead Krista Ellingson – Rosetown Curling Club

Team Grindheim: skip Dean Grindheim, third Alison Ingram, second Cole Tenetuik, lead Cathlia Ward – Twin Rivers Curling Club

Team Hartung: skip Tyler Hartung, third Amber Holland, second Mat Ring, lead Deb Lozinski – Kronau Curling Club

Team J. Heidt: skip Josh Heidt, third Lindsay Bertsch, second Jayden Shwaga, lead Melissa Butler – Kerrobert Curling Club

Team M. Heidt: skip Mitch Heidt, Third Brett Barber, second Derek Schneider, lead Michelle Englot

Team Ross: skip Brendan Ross, third Amber Montgomery, second Daniel Mutlow, lead Aryn Thibault – Swift Current Curling Club/Moose Jaw Curling Centre

Team Springer: skip Garret Springer, third Jill Springer, second Drew Springer, lead Chantel Martin – Highland Curling Club

Team St John: skip Jesse St John, third Ashley Ritchie, second Tyler Ritchie, lead Amber Petrushka – Rosetown Curling Club


The event was a triple knockout event with Team Hartung winning the A-Event, Team Ackerman winning the B-Event and Team M. Heidt and Team Springer coming out of the C-Event.

In the playoffs, Team Ackerman defeated Team Hartung 4-3 to claim a spot in Sunday’s final. Team Springer defeated Team M. Heidt 7-2 and Team Hartung 9-8 in the semi-final to secure a spot in the championship game. When all the rocks came to rest, it was Team Ackerman who came out with the 9-6 victory.
