Tisdale To Host The Largest Provincial Curling Championship in Saskatchewan History
Tisdale 2021
The sport of curling will be roaring in the Town of Tisdale when they play host to the five provincial curling championships in February of 2021. In a ground-breaking decision, the CURLSASK Board of Directors is pleased to award the 2021 Junior Men’s, Junior Women’s, Senior Men’s, Senior Women’s and Mixed Doubles Championships to the Tisdale Curling Club.
This marks the first time in our organizations 113-year history that five major curling provincials, will be held in the same community. This championship will bring together 56 of the best curling teams in Saskatchewan, and will be the largest provincial curling event that Saskatchewan has ever hosted. The event will take place in the Tisdale Curling Club and the RECPlex Arena from February 12-20, 2021.
This will be a historic event for our Saskatchewan curling community, this is truly a multi-generational celebration of our best curlers in the province. The North East Region, will be treated to a one of a kind event, that will bring together the newest curling discipline, the next generation of champions and the current generation of champions.
The Town of Tisdale has previously served as the host of many CURLSASK Championships, most notably the 2018 Affinity Credit Union Senior Provincials, 2017 SaskTel Tankard Men’s Provincials and 2014 Viterra Scotties Women’s Provincials. Based on the resounding success and outstanding community support of those events our Board of Directors has hand selected Tisdale from a list of 26 qualified communities to host this new Championship.
“In our past visits in Tisdale, the support of the community has been second to none and we cannot wait to return for this special event. We know a lot of hard work goes into planning successful Championships and based on the success of the 2014 Viterra Scotties, 2017 SaskTel Tankard, and 2018 Affinity Credit Union Senior Provincials we look forward to watching Tisdale take on this special championship,” said CURLSASK President Christy Walker.
“We are so excited to host these five provincial championships on arena ice for the first time in our history!” said CURLSASK Executive Director Ashley Howard. “We know how important access to arena ice conditions are when preparing our teams for national championships and we are thrilled to provide arena ice access for a record seven of our 15 provincial championships next season.”
It will be a wonderful opportunity for curling fans to embrace the five events at once and we know that visiting athletes, officials and fans will go home with smiles on their faces. There will be no doubt in our mind that Bob Jackson & his committee will make it a week to remember in Tisdale next February! Thank you to all the helping hands that made this a possibility.
