Grassroot Development Weekend in Saskatchewan a Busy One!
Wadena Hosts Team Camp & Celebrity Skips Event
It was a jam packed weekend at the Wadena Curling Club, as they hosted a team camp & celebrity skips event with guest curlers such as Marc Kennedy, Jan Betker, Pat Simmons & Gerald Shymko!
The first portion of the event kicked off Friday afternoon where Olympic Gold Medalist Marc Kennedy shared many great stories with the 350 school kids of Wadena! The evening portion featured The Health Action Group Auction Fundraiser Dinner!
Saturday was a fun filled day with free admission to the Meet & Greet/Celebrity Skips games with a silver plate collection for Wadena Junior Curling. And to wrap things up Sunday was the Junior Developmental Bonspiel with Instructors and Coaches on the ice!
We want to thank all the guests, instructors, participants, volunteers & the Wadena Curling Club for putting on such a fantastic event!
Academy of Curling Visits North Battleford
The Academy of Curling has made pit stops in Boucherville, Ottawa, Calgary, London, Dartmouth & finally made its final stop to the Twin Rivers Curling Club in North Battleford this past weekend!
The Academy of Curling is a world class instructional program that comes right to your curling club giving members and the community an opportunity to improve their curling game!
It is a great tool to increase awareness of Curling in the local area and clinics are customized to accompany a variety of skills & abilities who wish to participate!
A great turnout at the Twin Rivers Curling Club in North Battleford this weekend, where we want to thank the guest instructors Russ Howard, Grant Odishaw & “super spare” Kim Kelly on providing some great material to all the curlers! Also a huge thank you to the Twin Rivers volunteers for putting on a great event for their community!
CURLSASK Partners with Regina Open Door Society to introduce New Comers to Sport
CURLSASK has attended the Regina Open Door Society sport & recreation fair for the past two years now introducing the sport of curling with New Comers to Canada! The excitement and interest using the Rocks n Rings kits, Curling Bean Bag Toss & other promotional games at this fair generated a huge interest to the sport. This is where we decided to take the next step and have these participants experience the game on the ice!
With it being the very first time they have stepped onto the curling ice, our participants had a wonderful time during the first session of our pilot program this upcoming season! We look to take in a handful of Learn to Curl Sessions, with our goal to bring out more willing participants each and every time we hit the ice!
Nothing but laughs and smiles were had, with some fantastic shot making in the classic game of “corners”! We want to thank the Regina Open Door Society for partnering with us to bring this pilot program to life, we cannot wait for Session #2!
