Saskatoon’s Team Anderson Claim World Seniors Gold!
What an incredible way to cap off a season for Saskatoon’s Team Sherry Anderson who represented Canada at the 2018 World Senior Women’s Curling Championship in Ostersund, Sweden! And what better way to do it then returning back to the prairies with a gold medal wrapped around their necks!
Sherry Anderson, Patty Hersikorn, Brenda Goertzen, & Anita Silvernagle qualified into the playoff round after a 10-6 qualification win over Finland, landing them a semi-final matchup against Switzerland! After a big score of three followed by a deuce in the fourth end, Canada went on to win 7-5 and were headed to take on our rivals south of the border in the United States of America for that gold medal.
Canada got off to a hot start scoring three straight singles to start off the game, and never looked back as Canada walked away with the 5-3 final score and crowned as World Curling Champions!
Not to forget, that Sherry and team claimed the 2018 Canadian title this past April in Stratford, Ontario which means they will be headed back to the World Championship to defend their title next year at the 2019 World Championship! Congratulations ladies on an unbelievable past couple of seasons!
