Team SK Daily Blog #7 – Scotties Tournament of Hearts
Team Sask must have been the team to beat this week because our girls came up against some good teams and very HOT skips.
We started out playing New Brunswick yesterday, the girls played a good game and thought the steal of 2 was set up for the win. But NB made a nice draw, and we stole one to go to the extra, unfortunately the extra end didn’t finish in our favour. This was a disappointing moment to know we had been eliminated from making the second round.
The girls had to follow that up with their up close and personal in the patch so we had some soup and sandwiches and hung it with the families for a bit.
We then went to the hotel to relax before the evening game.
We had supper at the hotel restraunt and headed back to the arena for our last round robin game.
The girls focused and made a lot of shots but Nova Scotia was making everything and the curling Gods were on Nova Scotia side even when it looked like they were gonna flash they got great outcomes. Just one of those days and one of those weeks for team Sask.
They were right on the edge and the games could have went easily the other way. They have learned a lot and will definitely be going home feeling proud of themselves for battling and giving it their all at their first experience.
Losing never feels fun, but at the end of the day they have made new friends and have played in the most Prestigious event at the young age of 22 and 23 and had a really great leader in Sherry! They will be back!
This team showed class all week, they supported each other, they smiled, laughed and cried. I told them the tears are normal many of us have been there done that. And if we weren’t saddened by our losses we truely wouldn’t care and they wouldn’t have achieved so much in their curling careers.
This team has been an absolute blast, it has truly been a very memorable week. A week of many memories made!
Team Sask will have one more game for seatingtomorrow(Fridayam) against Quebec, oh right their was another pool in this event. More teams that we haven’t even seen!
Will be fun to play!
