Tiebreaker Game Needed to Determine Final Playoff Spot at Viterra Scotties Women's Provincial Championship

Barker & Lawton in Tiebreaker Game to Determine Final Playoff Spot

Heading into the ninth and final round robin draw of the 2018 Viterra Scotties Women’s Provincial Championship, a handful of situations could have unfolded moving forward into tomorrows page playoff round. Before tonights draw got underway, there was a slight chance of a four-way tie for that fourth and final playoff spot.

Team Sherry Anderson was headed into tonights game with a “win and your in” kind of mindset, but ended up losing to Team Amber Holland 7-3 which pushed them back to 4-4. They then kept their eyes on the match between Team Candace Chisholm & Team Stefanie Lawton, who both sat at four losses, where we saw Lawton make a great draw to the four foot for the win to keep her in the hunt. Once again, all heads were turned over to sheet three and the final game still remaining. Team Ashley Howard needed a win over Team Robyn Silvernagle to bring them into the tiebreaker picture, but lost by a score of 6-4.

As it sat we had Anderson, Lawton & Barker all at four losses. But it was Anderson who defeated both Lawton and Barker in the round robin giving her the right to hold onto that third spot into the playoffs. So we have ourselves a tiebreaker game tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. with Lawton facing off against Barker!!

Silvernagle & Eberle into 1vs2 Page Playoff Game

Robyn Silvernagle and her team out of the Twin Rivers Curling Club in North Battleford have clinched that top spot heading into the page playoffs with their 6-4 victory over Team Ashley Howard this evening. The turning point in this one was Silvernagles third Jolene Campbell with a fantastic triple to get the team out of trouble which lead to a Silvernagle score of two to stay in the lead.

Team Chantelle Eberle found themsevles in an early hole against Barker, as they fell behind 4-0 after two ends of play. Eberle responded nicely with a great tap (which may have been for five), but she ended up hitting it as good as she could to give her team a big score of three and momentum the rest of the game as they won by a final of 9-5!

With both teams wins, they will now meet in tomorrows 1vs2 page playoff game, with the winner receiving a direct berth into Sunday’s championship final!! Game time is penciled in for 7:00 p.m. tomorrow night!
