Silvernagle Clinches Spot Into Sundays Final at Viterra Scotties Women's Provincial Championship

Silvernagle (1) vs. Eberle (2)

The number one seed in Robyn Silvernagle, who finished with a 7-1 record through round robin, came out firing this evening in Melfort as the page playoffs got underway at the 2018 Viterra Scotties Women’s Provincial Championship!

The 1vs2 page playoff game got off to a slow start, as the first four ends resulted in blanks for the Silvernagle rink. Both teams gave the fans a jam packed end in the 5th, making freeze after freeze creating a clutter around the four foot when it came down to skip rocks. Silvernagle with her first made a great runback to remove one of Eberles stones, leading to a big score of three and a 3-0 lead after five ends of play!

Skip to the 9th end with Silvernagle laying three of her own, forcing Eberle into a tough come around tap to keep the score within two points. But Eberles rock racks on the guard leading to handshakes and an 8-2 final.

Eberle will now drop into the semi final match tomorrow at 12:00 p.m.

Team Andersons lead Karlee Korchinski (Devan Tasa/Tisdale Recorder)

Anderson (3) vs. Barker (4)

What a game it was between two former Saskatchewan champions in skips Penny Barker and Sherry Anderson. A low scoring game as well through the first half as it was 2-2 heading into the fifth end break. After three straight blank ends by Barker, she was forced to take her single in the 9th end as it was a well managed end by Anderson and her team.

Barker hanging on to the one point lead as they played the 10th end, where it was Sherry Anderson on her first stone making an absolute perfect come around to the top of the four foot, as she then lied two with another counter in the back eight foot. Barker was forced to play a soft weight runback to stick her shooter, but came up a bit wide with Anderson not needing to throw her last stone!

So it will be Anderson against Eberle in tomorrows semi final which comes your way at 12:00 p.m. with Silvernagle awaiting the winner in the 5:00 p.m. provincial final!!
