Day 1 Recap – Jiffy Lube Junior Men's & Women's Provincial Championship

Day 1 A Busy One at the Regina Callie

It may be a cold and chilly next few days here in Regina at the 2018 Jiffy Lube Junior Men’s & Women’s Provincial Championships, but the energy was high and warm inside the building with many fans taking in the action on Day 1!

Draw 1 & Draw 2 took place this afternoon/evening with each team getting that first game under their belts and use to this great ice surface Dean Moulding and his team at the Callie have prepared.

Draw 3 will take place tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m.

Today’s Highlights

Junior Men’s:

  1. Defending champions Team Rylan Kleiter picking up their first win of the weekend over fellow Saskatoon Sutherland rival in Team Carson Ackerman 5-2.
  2. Team Mitchell Dales takes a big score of four in the final end to defeat Team Cody Sutherland of Maidstone 9-8.
  3. Other victories on the men’s side were Behm defeating Williamson (5-3), Stewart defeating Vereschagin (7-4), Gervais defeating Bindig (8-6) & Bernath defeating Tokarz (10-9).

Junior Women’s:

  1. Team Hanna Anderson making a clutch draw with her final rock in the 10th end to take the final 8-5 over Weyburns Emily Haupstein.
  2. Team Chaelynn Kitz also drawing for her single in the final end to defeat Team Skylar Ackerman 6-5.
  3. Other victories on the women’s side were Erickson defeating Beattie (14-3), England defeating Kleiter (7-3), Todd defeating Fowler (9-3) & Thevenot defeating Zankl (6-5).
