Affinity Credit Union Senior Women’s Q-Spiel #1 – Saskatoon Granite

The Saskatoon Granite Curling Club will host the first Affinity Credit Union Senior Women’s event of the season. Six women’s teams will make the trip to Saskatoon to try and earn a direct berth into the Affinity Credit Union Senior Women’s Provincial Championship, which will be held February 20-25 at the Tisdale Curling Club.

Last years Canadian Champion Sherry Anderson will be amongst the field, along with the 2017 Canadian Masters Champion in Delores Syrota.

Farmer’s Edge SCT – Wadena

The final Saskatchewan Men’s Curling Tour spiel of the season will take place this Friday at the Wadena Curling Club. A direct berth into the SaskTel Tankard Men’s Provincial Championship is whats up for grabs for the 15 men’s teams competing. They will look to join Brent Gedak, Ryan Deis & Scott Bitz as teams who are already qualified for the provincial January 31 – February 4 at Affinity Place in Estevan!

The remaining provincial spots will be determined as follows:

Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings – Ottawa, ON

Three teams on the men’s & women’s sides will have their eyes on the prize come the weekend, as the top three in each pool qualify for the playoff round and are one step closer to representing Canada at the 2018 Winter Olympics!

Saskatchewan’s Steve Laycock will need to win out to have a shot at the playoff picture, but nevertheless had a great week out east providing some great curling for all of Canada to watch! Keep it going boys!

Team Nancy Martin

Curl Mesabi Men’s & Women’s Classic – Eveleth, MN

Two Saskatchewan teams will make their way south of the border to Eveleth, Minnesota to compete in the Curl Mesabi Men’s & Women’s Classic. Team Nancy Martin, who has just recently received a direct berth into the Viterra Scotties Women’s Provincial, will look to gain some momentum heading into provincials January 2!

After a few weeks away from the spiel scene, it will be Team Adam Casey of Regina hitting the ice. Casey currently sits at #33 on the Canadian Team Ranking System standings, with them reaching the semi final back in October at the Direct Horizontal Drilling Fall Classic!
