McKee & Anderson Win Affinity Credit Union Senior Provincial Titles

Senior Men’s Provincial Final – Team McKee vs. Team Humble

Congratulations to the Darrell McKee rink out of the Saskatoon Nutana Curling Club who took home the provincial final Sunday afternoon at the Swift Current Curling Club. The final was an all Saskatoon showdown with McKee taking on Brian Humble of the Sutherland Curling Club. This one turned out to be a low scoring affair, as there were only single points traded off by both teams throughout this game. It was all tied up at 2-2 heading into the 8th and final end, with McKee having the last rock advantage and picking up his single point to earn the right to represent Saskatchewan at the 2017 Canadian Senior Championships in Fredericton, New Brunswick Mar.20-25, 2017.

Senior Women’s Provincial Final – Team Anderson vs. Team Arguin

The Senior Women’s provincial final game took place Sunday afternoon at the Swift Current Curling Club, where we saw the defending champion in Team Sherry Anderson of the Saskatoon Nutana Curling Club take on Team Lorrain Arguin out of the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre. There was no shortage in scoring from both teams yesterday afternoon, as it was Arguin holding on to a 4-3 lead after five ends of play. But Anderson responded nicely as she picked up her deuce with hammer, followed up by a big steal of three to take the eventual win by a score of 8-4. Anderson will now represent Saskatchewan at the 2017 Canadian Championships in Fredericton, New Brunswick as the city will play host to both the Senior Men’s & Women’s Canadian Championships Mar.20-25, 2017. Good Luck to both teams as they will compete to wear the red and white at the 2017 Senior Men’s & Women’s World Curling Championships which will be held April 22-29, 2017 in Lethbridge, Alberta.
