Scotties Tournament of Hearts – Daily Blog #4
What a wonderful morning/afternoon off. The team and family/friends/fans all made our way to Niagara Falls to be tourists and have a full group lunch. The team plays every evening draw so this was our only opportunity to have a gathering all together. It was a wonderful day with the sun shining and decent temperature. Most everyone did the Journey Under The Falls tour and then had a great lunch at Fallsview Buffet – which you pay for the view as much as the food, but well worth it. Deanna’s good friend Jeneen Armstrong from AB surprised her and came to watch along with her mom and a couple of her friends, so of course we included them in our excursion. Merv returned safe & sound from the falls – apparently we didn’t get the right size of wooden barrel for him – maybe next time. 😉
Got back to our hotel in time to have a rest and watch the afternoon draw on TSN.
Deanna’s family arrived today and came to the evening game all decked out in full green force. Shawn, Anna and Aiden Doig – Deanna’s husband and children and Morley and Cathy McKechnie – her mom & dad.
We played the evening draw against Quebec. I am wondering what we have done to p**s off the curling gods – perhaps it is my bad karma like the airport security guy said? Besides a first end oops and giving up three, we played some great ends but couldn’t get anything going. I guess timing is everything as we didn’t always capitalize on opportunities.
Tomorrow (or today as it is past midnight here as I am writing this) is a new day, as they say, but if everyone back home can say a prayer to the curling gods, I am sure it won’t hurt.
Keep cheering as well. We love the support!
