Sam Wills & Mackenzie Schwartz Win Mixed Doubles Title!

Congratulations to both Sam Wills and Mackenzie Schwartz out of the Lumsden Curling Club who won the 2017 Mixed Doubles Provincial Curling Championship this past weekend at the Saskatoon CN Curling Club!

Wills/Schwartz finisheda top of their pool during pool play with a 4-1 record, earning them a spot in the quarter finals this morning. After a 6-4 win over another young junior squad of Stewart/Kitz, they met with the family pairing of Manners/Manners where they took another victory of 8-6. The championship final matchup they battled it out with Tyler Travis/Crystal Fenwick, and it was a close one heading into the 4th end break with Wills/Schwartz holding on to a 4-2 lead. But after the break, Wills/Schwartz with back to back steals in the 5th and 6th ends, took the eventual victory 6-3 and are your 2017 champions!

They will now represent Saskatchewan at the 2017 Canadian Mixed Championships Apr.5-9, 2017 which will be held back in Saskatoon at the Nutana Curling Club! Good luck to both Sam and Mackenzie!
