SK Junior Men's & Women's Daily Blog #4
Junior Women
If only work and school was as Monday morning friendly as the Canadian Juniors, then Monday mornings would be far more tolerable! The first draw of the day was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. so everyone ranging from players, to officials and volunteers had some free time to sleep, do homework and/or relax. Only Mike Merklinger and his ice techs were going strong to make sure the excellent ice conditions were kept in tip top shape. Our team took advantage of a gorgeous sunny morning to head out for a short walk seeking out our favourite breakfast restaurant. Everyone was in good spirits and refreshed. Then, to top off a beautiful morning, an anonymous guest at the restaurant took care of our food bill! What a huge surprise. The team was overwhelmed.

Our server said she was sworn to secrecy and would not tell us who our breakfast angel was. So the team is sending out a virtual Thank You to that kind person. We headed to the Archie Browning Centre to play the nucleus of the defending Junior World Champions. Team SK definitely won the first half of the game but, like they say in football and hockey – you have to play the whole 60 minutes. Team NS came on strong in the second half and we slipped just a bit. The game came down to a centimeter in the 9th end with NS just barely, barely getting past a rock in the 12′ to hit and roll and sit 2 buried on the button or else we are drawing for 3. That shot was a 5 point swing in a tied game. Regardless, we took the positives out of that game, trashed the negatives and are preparing for the evening game in a couple of hours. This team has fortitude and talent and we are looking forward to getting back on the ice.
Keep Cheering Saskatchewan and we will keep playing hard!
