Hello from Team Sask in Yarmouth!
We had quite a busy day. Since we did not play the morning draw we were able to sleep in a little bit. After a good night’s rest we went for a walk with our amazing ambassador, Nick, to a local sandwich cafe for a delicious lunch. We enjoyed our lunch and toured downtown Yarmouth for a little while.
Next we were off to our first game of the day against the team from the Northwest Territories. We all came out strong in the game and gained a commanding lead early after scoring five in the first end. Eventually the Northwest Territories conceded after six ends of play. After our win we had a quick turn around for our evening game.
Our second game of the day was against a very strong team from British Columbia. This game was back and forth the entire time with the teams trading deuces. The sixth end was an end that stood out as our skip, Brady Scharback, made a draw to the pin for our single point against two around the button . After barely missing a shot for two in the eighth end we had to play an extra end. We did not have hammer and had to go all out for a steal. After a near perfect end by all four players, we squeaked out a win with a steal of one. The team from British Columbia played very well and the game was full of intensity the entire way through.
All four of us came straight back to the hotel to have some snacks before heading off to bed. Tomorrow is a big day as we go up against the other top two teams in our pool.
That’s all for today from Yarmouth!
