It was an all international final in this years Colonial Square Ladies Classic at the Saskatoon Nutana Curling Club Monday afternoon.
The 2009 World champion and 2010 Olympic bronze medalist Bingyu Wang of China squared off against the 2013 World champion and 2014 Olympic bronze medalist Eve Muirhead of Scotland.
It was a back and forth battle between the two teams throughout the first half of the game, having a 3-3 tie through 5 ends. That was when Wang broke out with a huge 3 ender in the 6th end to ultimately take the championship final with a score of 7-4.
Wang defeated Anna Hasselborg from Sweden in the semi final, while Muirhead was the winner over Team Jones from Manitoba in the other semi final.
The Saskatchewan teams that competed produced some very good numbers in the first World Curling Tour event here in Saskatchewan. Team Stefanie Lawton (Saskatoon) lost a tough battle in the quarterfinals to Hasselborg, and Team Chantelle Eberle (Regina) also lost a tough match in a quarter final game to Wang.
Team Jolene Campbell of Regina as well as Team Robyn Silvernagle of North Battleford were just shy of making the playoffs losing in C qualifying games late Sunday night.
