4 Teams Win in Estevan at Challenge #1
Robin Silvernagle’s team based out of North Battleford Twin Rivers found the most direct way from Estevan to Prince Albert when the team won four straight games to earn the A Qualifier position at the Viterra Scotties Challenge Spiel. Playing with Dayna Demers, Christina Goertzen, Kara Kilden and Coach Anita Silvernagle, the team defeated Kim Schneider 8-3 in the A Final match up.
The Schneider team went on to drop another game in the B event but prevailed in the C1 Qualifier game with a 7-2 victory over Brett Barber from Biggar. The Schneider team from Kronau consists of Schneider, Laura Strong, Natalie Bloomfield, Kristy Johnson and Coach Jamie Schneider.
After dropping their opening game, Regina Highland’s Jolene Campbell along with Ashley Howard, Callan Hamon and Ashley Williamson earned the B berth with four straight wins finishing with a 6-4 victory over Saskatoon’s Nancy Martin. Nancy Martin bounced back with a 6-5 victory over Mandy Selzer to earn the final spot in Challenge #1. The Martensville team includes Taryn Schachtel, Sherry Just and Jinaye Yanota and Coach Brian Champion.
Silvernagle, Campbell, Schneider and Martin join the already declared Stefanie Lawton, Sherry Anderson, Michelle Englot and Penny Barker teams at the twelve team 2016 Viterra Scotties in Prince Albert from January 27 to January 31, 2016. Four more teams will earn the final spots at the Last Chance Challenge in Humboldt from January 15-17, 2016.
