36 Teams Entered in Q Spiel #1
The Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre is expecting a full house of curling teams and spectators this weekend as they prepare to host the first stage of the 2016 Jiffy Lube Saskatchewan Junior Playdowns. Twenty men’s teams and sixteen women’s teams have entered Q Spiel #1 in an effort to become the first set of qualifiers for the Provincial Junior Competition January 2-6, 2016 at the Nutana Curling Club in Saskatoon. By Sunday evening four Men’s and four Women’s teams will have earned the first of twelve berths available for the provincial competition.
The number of entries was so large that the Regina Callie Club has been called on to host the Junior Women’s first draw Friday, November 6th at 9:30 A.M. After that draw, all remaining Women’s games will be played in Moose Jaw. This allowed the competition to be completed in three days as compared to extending it to four days.
The Junior Men’s A berth will be played Saturday at 5:00 P.M. and the B qualifier will be played Sunday at 4:30 P.M. The Men’s Q Spiel #1 will conclude with two C Final games Sunday evening at 8:30PM. The Junior Women will declare their first entry to Provincials Saturday at 5:00 P.M. The B qualifier will be played Sunday at 12:30 and the two C games will be Sunday at 4:30 P.M.
