32 Teams at Saskatoon Nutana Club
One of the most social, yet still competitive, championship events in the CURLSASK season begins Friday, March 20th in Saskatoon when 16 Men’s Teams and 16 Women’s teams begin play to determine the 2015 CURLSASK Traveler Club Champion. This event is formulated for true club championship teams, not elite, past or present. The objective is to support the development of curling across Canada with an event that promotes camaraderie along with the opportunity compete against similar level of teams. Regrets to Steve Laycock and Stefanie Lawton – you just are eligible for this one!
Each of the 8 CURLSASK regions is eligible to send two teams to the provincials. Once at the provincial competition, teams are divided into pools of four and will play 3 games. The first draw begins Friday, March 20th at 12:00 PM. The winners of each pool will advance to the semi-finals on Sunday, March 22nd with the Championship Finals for the Men’s and Women’s division set for 1:00 PM. The provincial winners will then represent the 2015 National Championships November 23-28,2015 in Ottawa.
Saskatchewan’s Kory Kohuch Nutana team is the defending 2014 Canadian Men’s Club Champion as they won the event in Halifax in November. However, one of the stipulations is that defending provincial champions are not eligible for the next year’s competition. Therefore, neither Kohuch or Jana Tisdale’s Regina Highland team will be competing at this event.
Live scoring for the 2015 Travelers Club Championships will be provided on the CURLSASK Scoreboard.
