Kopach Set to Defend, New Men’s Champion to be Decided
The 2014 Women’s National Masters Champions are in Kindersley this weekend to start their path to defend their Canadian title. Merle Kopach, Audrey Crossons, Linda Delver and Janet Rooks start play on Wednesday, March 11th at the Kindersley Curling Club. Five other women’s teams will join them in the Round Robin format. The second and third place teams will play in the semi-finals while the first place team will go directly to the Finals. The championship game will be played on Saturday evening at 7:00 PM.
A new provincial men’s team will be decided as defending Saskatchewan and 2014 national champion Eugene Hritzuk was defeated in Region playdowns. Twelve men’s teams are divided into two pools and will play a five game round robin to determined the playoff teams. The top two teams in each pool will advance to the Page Playoffs. The Men’s championship game is Sunday morning at 9:00 AM.
The Canadian National Masters Championships will be held in Whitehorse, YK from March 30th – April 5th, 2015.
