Nutana’s Kory Kohuch Wins 2014 Travelers
Saskatchewan captured its second national curling title in November when Kory Kohuch and his Nutana club teammates squeaked out a 5-4 win in the title game against Ontario. Accompanied by Mark Adams, Wes Lang and Dave Schmirler, the team lost only one game en route to the title. The Ontario team’s only loss prior to the final game had been against Saskatchewan.
The Saskatchewan women, led by Jana Tisdale, narrowly missed playoffs after scoring a 4-2 record in the round robin. In fact, the team’s only losses were against the two teams that played in the Women’s championship final where Ontario defeated Prince Edward Island 6-4 to win the title.
This is Saskatchewan’s first national title in this competition. The 2015 Provincial Travelers playdowns will be held at the Nutana Curling Club March 20-22nd, 2015 to determine the representatives for the 2015 national championships. New rules established by the Travelers will not allow teams to defend their titles meaning the Saskatchewan titles are wide open and Mr. Kohuch, General Manager of the Nutana Curling Club, will be completely available to attend to the Provincial championships at his club.
