Editors Note: A huge and big “Thank You” to Brandi and the team for the insight and comments from Halifax. It is challenging enough to compete in a national championship without the extra stress and strain of providing notes to the folks and fans back home. But so you know, there are hundreds upon hundreds of people reading the blog everyday. Keep up the great curling Team SK and we are all cheering hard from back home.
From Brandi Clarke:
“Well, what can I say . . . a recap of today . . . Halifax has once again proved to be a spectacular place and the Travelers Club Championship has the best volunteers and players from across Canada. This is an event everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime.
Our day started off early with our morning draw. We play a great group of ladies from Newfoundland/Labrador. To our excitement we came out on top with the win.
We had some time in between games, so the husbands and the parents decided to plan a trip on the ferry across to Dartmouth where we had lunch at The Wooden Monkey, weird name I know, but the food was delicious.
After our trip to Dartmouth, we returned back to Halifax and straight to the rink for our next game. Our second game was against Nunavut. These women are one of the funniest bunch you’ll ever meet. So kind, yet hilarious. Their highlight of the game was when Jana called a time out.
We ended up with the win from that game as well. All in all our team is feeling great. We do however need Ontario to lose both of their games tomorrow and we need to beat Quebec in order to make the playoffs. So pray hard. I know it is not nice to wish on someone’s misfortunes, but here is to hoping. If not, you know where I’ll be. ☺️
After our second game all the women’s teams headed to the Keith’s Brewery, where we got the tour and some free beer. It is definitely a sight to see with some very great acting.
After the tour, where we all had a little dance party, prior to leaving, we headed back to the hospitality room at the hotel for some more socializing. It was Karaoke night tonight and I won’t deny that I may have been up at the mic a few times this evening. We did LOTS of dancing and singing. I should be really warmed up for the game tomorrow. In true Saskatchewan fashion, Renee and I closed the hospitality room tonight. Lots of fun and memories were made tonight.
Tomorrow we have a bye during the day and play tomorrow night at 8:15pm Halifax time, so we will be heading to Peggy’s Cove bright and early tomorrow morning (or should I say this morning?). With that said, I bid you all a great night and until tomorrow, take care.
With lots of thanks to each and everyone of you for the support you have given to our team, we say a BIG HUGE THANK YOU.
KEEP WATCHING, cheering and praying.
Yours truly in curling,
Brandi Clarke (second on Team Tisdale)
