Men’s World Curling Tour Spiel
Nearly every Saskatchewan competitive men’s team will be in Estevan this weekend at the Weatherford Curling Classic. Twenty two of the twenty four competing teams are from Saskatchewan. In what looks like a preview of the 2015 SaskTel Tankard Championships in early 2015, the big Saskatchewan teams are hitting the ice to get a piece of the rich $32,000 purse.
Teams such as Steve Laycock, Randy Bryden, Kevin Marsh, Clint Dieno, Jeff Hartung, Josh Heidt and Scott Bitz have all had success this year on the WCT tour and they are all in Estevan. The first draw begins Friday at 11:00 A.M. and the championship game will be Monday, December 1st at 1:30 P.M. Results may be found on the WCT Scores Page. Not only is there cash on the line but valuable SCT and CTRS points are at stake. These points are used for direct entries to the SaskTel Tankard. Tankard Points Standings may be found on the CURLSASK SCT site.
The WCT stop this weekend for the women is in Lloydminster at the Boundary Ford Curling Classic. Saskatchewan teams include Jill Shumay, Jessica Hanson, Trish Paulsen and Jolene Campbell. The women are playing for a total purse of $24,000 prize money. That competition begins Friday at 3:00 PM and concludes Monday with the Championship game at 5:00 PM.
