Team Sask wins! Team Sask wins!
After a exceptional week of curling in North Bay, Ontario – Team Kirkpatrick tops it off with winning their final game and capturing the Canadian Mixed National Title. The Swift Current Curling Club’s team of Max Kirkpatrick, Jolene Campbell, Chris Haichert and Teejay Haichert toppled Jamie Koe’s rink of NWT 7-4 in the final game. After exchanging singles in the first two ends and then deuces in ends 3 and 4, Team Saskatchewan scored their deuce in end 5 but forced the NWT team to one in the 6th end and never looked back. With this win, Saskatchewan has won their 10th Mixed National Title and is now tied with Alberta for top spot in the events history.
The Kirkpatrick Team will represent Canada next fall at the 2015 World Mixed Curling Championship, Sept. 12-19 at a site to be announced by the World Curling Federation. The first time for a World Mixed Team Championship and the Saskatchewan Team will be the first to wear the maple leaf on their backs. A great accomplishment for sure.
The Canadian Mixed is the first of this season’s National Championships – Saskatchewan is off to a great start!!
