Stefanie Lawton’s Saskatoon team is set to begin play Sunday afternoon in Winnipeg at the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. Lawton, accompanied by teammates Sherry Anderson, Sheri Singler and Marliese Kasner, open up against Sherry Middaugh Sunday afternoon at 1:00 PM Saskatchewan time.
Lawton’s team is complemented with alternate player Cori Morris and coach Rick Folk. If Cori looks familiar it is because she was the lead for Cheryl Bernard’s 2010 Olympic Silver Medal team. Folk skipped Saskatchewan’s last Brier winner in 1980.
Amber Holland is the other Saskatchewan based female player participating in the Trials as the alternate for Val Sweeting’s Edmonton based team. Pat Simmons, third for Kevin Koe, also has strong Saskatchewan roots.
TV coverage of all draws will be found on TSN.
