Martensville and Moose Jaw are the sites for Q Spiels #2 for Junior Playdown action beginning Friday. Sixteen junior men’s teams will compete in Martensville for the next four berths while thirteen junior women’s teams will play in Moose Jaw. Four teams from each of these competitions will join the teams that previously qualified from the Yorkton event.
Twelve women’s teams and twelve men’s teams will compete in Provincials from December 27th – December 31st where they will striving to be the team that represents Saskatchewan at the M&M National Championships.
First though teams have to get to North Battleford and there are three competitions that provide that avenue. Four representatives were declared in Yorkton as the Tyler Hartung, Brady Scharback, Cole Tenetuik and Austin Williamson teams emerged from the men’s side while the Lorraine Schneider, Jessica Hanson, Brooke Tokarz and Danielle Bertsch teams won on the women’s side. Once a team qualifies for provincials they are ineligible to compete in any remaining junior Q spiels. Scharback and Hanson are the defending provincial champions.
The third and final events will be held November 29th – December 1st. The women travel to Watrous and the men travel to Assiniboia to declare the final four representatives.
