Bruce Korte captured his third Sask Tour Event title Sunday winning the Humboldt Men’s Cash Spiel and securing a berth to the Provincial Men’s Tankard. Korte defeated Max Kirkpatrick 6-3 in the Final to pick up 10 points and $2,600. Korte has three Tour wins and one second place finish for a total of 37 points heading into the Tour Championship.
Korte went through the tournament unbeaten winning five straight games, three of them in the Championship event. In the quarter-finals Korte defeated Jamie Schneider 4-2 before downing Josh Heidt 7-0 in the semi-final. Kirkpatrick who qualified out of the “B” event beat Aaron Gaudreau 5-2 in the quarter-finals and Jason Jacobson 6-5 in the semi-finals. Also losing in the quarter-finals were Brad Heidt and Darren Camm.
Kirkpatrick won $1,800 while Jacobson and Josh Heidt won $1200 each. Gaudreau, Schneider, Brad Heidt and Camm each took home $800.
