Teams must register for the following:

CURLSASK, in conjunction with Pointstreak, provides on-line registration and online payment for all competitions. Please follow directions carefully.

In order for teams to be eligible for the accumulation of points toward either the SCT or CTRS Saskatchewan Provincial berths, each team must register for the Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS) and Saskatchewan Women’s Curling Tour (SWCT) before November 1st of each year.

General Information

Information Required to Register

  • Team name – It is crucial to have a different team name for each competition entered (ie: Team curler-mens, Team curler-senior mens, etc.)
  • Team line up
  • All team members full addresses, e-mail, phone # and birth date
  • Method of payment in full (credit card, cheque to be mailed)

Security

  • Pointstreak does not store your credit card number on their server.
    Your credit card information is erased from their system immediately after validation with their clearing house.

Privacy

  • Registering your team provides CURLSASK the ability to use and disclose information from individuals for the purpose of providing services or information, managing records, conducting research and sharing information to other curling or sports organizations at the discretion of CURLSASK.

Refund/Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellation prior to the registration deadline – full refund of competition registration fees.
  • Cancellation after the registration deadline – no refund of competition registration fees. Under special circumstances written application for refund can be made to CURLSASK Finance Committee for consideration.
2016-2017 General Rules of Competition2016-2017 Competitor & Coach Code of Conduct

A. ELIGIBILITY

  1. Affiliation

All participants must be player members of CURLSASK. Player Members are defined as persons who are members of CURLSASK Affiliate Member Curling Clubs.

All participants must adhere to the CURLSASK Residency Policy and be Canadian Citizens.

2. AGE

No minimum or maximum age restriction

3. Entry

  • Each team must register its four players prior to the commencement of play.
  • At the time of entry, the team must declare which one curling club they shall be representing for this competition.
  • If a team has a coach at Challenge/Last Chance/Provincials, he/she must be Competition Coach Certified or Competition-Development Trained or old NCCP Level 1 Certified. At Nationals he/she must be Competition-Development Certified or old NCCP Level 2 Certified in the sport of curling to be recognized. All coaches must complete the Respect in Sport on-line training program prior to being granted coaching status.

4. Registration Fees

  • The CURLSASK registration fee for this competition is $220.00 (GST included) per team plus a Curling Canada Participant Fee of $36.00 per player payable at the time of entry.

5. Deadlines

  • To earn ALL points for pre-qualification through CTRS or Sask Women’s Curling Tour, a team must be registered by November 1, 2016.
  • The entry deadline for Provincial Qualification Bonspiel #1 (Viterra Women’s Provincial Challenge Qualifier) 12:00PM Noon, November 29, 2016
  • The entry deadline for Provincial Qualification Bonspiel #2 (Viterra Women’s Provincial Last Chance Qualifier) is 12:00PM Noon, December 20, 2016.

B. SUBSTITUTE

(Please refer to General Rules of Competition #14 for general substitution rules)

Specific substitution rules for this competition are:

  1. For CTRS/SWCT Events see F. (4).
  2. For Provincial Qualification Bonspiels, a substitute may come from anywhere in the province but may not be a registered member of a team in the Women’s competition.
  3. For Provincials, a substitute may come from anywhere in the province, not be a registered member of a team competing in the provincial event but could be from a registered team who has been previously eliminated from the Women’s competition.

 C.  PLAYDOWN PROCEDURES

  1. The Provincial will be a nine (9) team event with teams qualifying as follows:
    1. Three (3) berths will be awarded to the highest ranked registered Sask. teams on the CTRS by November 28, 2016, as per the guidelines in Section E.
    2. One (1) berth will be awarded to the highest ranked registered Sask. team on the SWCT by November 28, 2016, as per the guidelines in Section D.
    3. One (1) berth will be awarded to the second highest ranked registered Sask. Team on the SWCT by December 5, 2016 provided that team is in the top 65 teams on the CTRS
      1. If the SWCT runner up is not in the top 65 teams, the berth spot(s) will then be awarded to the CURLSASK Last Chance Spiel.
    1. Two (2) Qualifying berths from CURLSASK Challenge Spiel as per guidelines in section G
    2. Two (2) to three (3) Qualifying berths from CURLSASK Last Chance Spiel as per guidelines in section G
  1. At the Provincial Championship a nine (9) team round robin format will be used. At the conclusion of the round robin the top four teams will advance to a page system playoff.

D. SWCT (Sask Women’s Curling Tour) BERTH

It is understood that teams will have to enter and/or qualify for these Point Qualifying Berth Events under the terms and conditions of each respective bonspiel. Check with respective host clubs for details.

All approved 2016 – 2017 Women’s SWCT Events during September, October, November and up to and including November 28, 2016, will be designated as qualifying events for the 2016 Provincial Championship. For the list of approved events, go to www.curlsask.ca/sask-womens-curling-tour

  1. Points will be awarded as follows: (All bonspiels will have equal value.)
    1. 1st place 10 points
    2. 2nd place 7 points
    3. 3rd and 4th place 5 points
    4. 5th to 8th place 3 points
  2. Events with 8 teams or greater participating – full points awarded. Under 8 teams participating – no points awarded.
  3. The number of teams that qualify for playoffs will be maximum 8 teams and minimum 4 teams and will be determined per event by the SWCT committee dependent on number of entries into the bonspiel.
  4. In the event a team(s) who are not eligible, as per the set criteria, qualify in any event it is understood that the placing points for that team are not awarded and not passed on to any team. (e.g. If a team from Alberta wins an event then the 10 points vanish and are not awarded to any team.)
  5. Where events only qualify 6 teams the 5th and 6th place teams will be awarded 3 points each and the normal 7th and 8th place points will not be awarded
  6. In the event of a tie for a qualifying berth, the Tiebreaker Criteria will be as follows:
    • Number of 1st place finishes
    • Number of 2nd place finishes
    • Number of 3rd/4th place finishes
    • Number of 5th to 8th place finishes
    • Head to head record in Sask. Tour Events
    • Sudden death playoff among tied teams. Date and location determined by CURLSASK.
  7. The SWCT must host a minimum of four (4) spiels to be eligible for the SWCT Runner up spot. The berth would be awarded to the last chance qualification event if this condition is not met.

 E. CTRS (Canadian Team Ranking System) BERTHS

The CTRS ranks Canadian women curling teams based on performance in cash tournaments worldwide and women’s playdowns leading to sanctioned world championships. Women teams can earn CTRS points by first registering with Curling Canada. To collect points, any 3 of the 4 players registered with Curling Canada must be on the ice for the points to be valid. Only events approved by Curling Canada are eligible to offer CTRS points. For more information on how points are calculated, eligible events, standings and to register to earn CTRS points, please go to www.curling.ca
All 2016-2017 Women’s CTRS Events during September, October, November and up to and including November 28, 2016 will be designated as qualifying events for the 2017 Provincial Championship.

  1. Teams wishing to earn points toward CTRS Berths must register with Curling Canada on-line prior by the deadline set by Curling Canada.
  2. On November 28, 2016 the three highest ranked registered Saskatchewan Teams on the CTRS will earn berths to the Provincial.
  3. In the event of a tie for the final qualifying berth, the Tiebreaker Criteria will be as follows:
    1. Number of 1st place finishes
    2. Number of 2nd place finishes
    3. Number of 3rd/4th place finishes
    4. Number of 5th to 8th place finishes
    5. Head to head record in CTRS events.
    6. Sudden death playoff among tied teams. Date and location determined by CURLSASK.

F.  TEAMS WILL BE ABLE TO VIE FOR CTRS AND SWCT BERTHS IF THEY MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  1. All participants must be affiliated members of CURLSASK. Team rosters need to be declared through CURLSASK on-line registration.
  2. Competition Fee, including the Curling Canada Fee, must be paid to the CURLSASK Office or through on-line registration, by November 1st. Points accumulated prior to November 1 will count only if fees and registration are completed by November 1. Registrations received after November 1 will allow the team to accumulate points only from date of registration received.
  3. Teams wanting to earn points via CTRS must also register on-line with Curling Canada at curling.ca.
  4. Teams wishing to earn points through the CTRS or SWCT Berths must have three (3) of four registered players. In the event only three of four registered team members compete, the substitute for the bonspiel must:
    1. reside within CURLSASK boundaries.
    2. be a member in good standing of a member club of CURLSASK.
    3. play the position of the indisposed player or lower.
    4. not have competed in the same event with another team
  5. Calculation of SWCT points will be completed by the SWCT Committee, and will be posted on www.curlsask.ca SWCT  Any discrepancies should be brought to the SWCT Committee.
  6. Calculation of CTRS Points is completed by Curling Canada with confirmation by CURLSASK and will be posted on www.curlsask.ca. Any discrepancies should be brought to Curling Canada’s and CURLSASK’s attention.

G.  PROVINCIAL QUALIFICATION BONSPIELS

  1. Qualification Bonspiel #1 (Viterra Women’s Provincial Challenge Qualifier) will qualify two (2) teams to the provincial.
  2. Qualification Bonspiel #2 (Viterra Women’s Provincial Last Chance Qualifier) will qualify a minimum of two (2) teams to the provincial.
  3. Only team registered for CURLSASK Women’s Competition are eligible to compete in the Qualification Bonspiels. Registration for Qualification Bonspiels will be through the CURLSASK on-line registration system. Teams are required to pay CURLSASK Women’s Competition Registration Fee and Curling Canada Fees. Teams who have already registered with CURLSASK and paid competition fees to try to earn CTRS or SWCT points, are not required to pay any additional fees but still must register on-line.
  4. Teams qualifying for Provincials through CTRS, SWCT or winning a Qualifying #1 Bonspiel berth CANNOT enter another Qualifying Spiel.
  5. Registration Deadline for Challenge Spiel is 12:00PM Noon, November 29, 2016
  6. Registration Deadline for Last Chance Spiel is Noon, December 20, 2016
  7. Teams who may require a substitution for either Qualification Bonspiel must adhere to the CURLSASK Substitute Rules in the General Rules of Competition #13. The substitute must be a member of CURLSASK.

G.  MISCELLANEOUS

  1. It is understood that teams will have to enter and/or qualify for these Point Qualifying Berth Events under the terms and conditions of each respective bonspiel.
  2. In the event of any challenge or dispute related to rulings or awarded points, it is understood that the decision of the CURLSASK Competition Committee is final.
  3. Should a team qualify for a berth through the CTRS and SWCT, the CTRS would take precedence.
  4. In the event a registered player(s) is/are replaced throughout the curling season, that replaced player(s) may apply to CURLSASK for reinstatement of eligibility in order to re-enter other Provincial berth events with another team. Application must be made in writing (e-mail is sufficient) to CURLSASK Chief Official at least 3 days prior to wanting to compete with any other team in a provincial berth event. A player may only request to be reinstated once for the Women’s Playdown Process.
